Maryport and surroundings

Maryport itself is a delightful Georgian harbour town with unspoilt coast line to the North through Allonby and Silloth to Carlisle. Inland Cockermouth is 5 miles away, Keswick 20 miles and in 20 minutes you can be on the shores of Crummock Water and Buttermere, in 35 minutes you can be at Seathwaite in Borrowdale, the heart of the Lake District. To the South lies the port of Whitehaven with it's annual maritime festival and just south of that the seaside village of St. Bees with it's wide sandy beach and the start of Alfred Wainright's Coast to Coast walk.
